My name is Lyra. Im a little bit shy around new people, but I warm up quickly and will entertain you shortly thereafter. Considering my past, being shy at first is not too surprising. I was found by the Corridor Rescue volunteers as a stray who had taken cover underneath a vacant house, along with my brand new litter of puppies. It was a terrible scene for all of us and we were all starving. We were all scooped up and whisked off to the safety of our rescue vet. Im so thankful and appreciative for their kindness and for the safe and happy life I have now. Im 3 years old, 44 pounds and Im a low energy girl. Despite that rough start, I am completely healthy and getting more social and comfortable every day. I have a few super cute things that you have to see and then you might fall in love with me. When my people friends play with me, I always sit down and tap my front paw on the floor like Im playing the piano. I also love to run and when I do, I tuck my back end and my tail under and I look like I'm moving super fast. Also, I had never been on a leash in my life, but I like it and walk very nicely on it. I love treats and Ill take those very gently out of your hands. I also know my sit and crate commands. Im smart, they tell me! I also will let you rub my belly for as long as you would like. Im potty trained, crate trained and I don't mind my kennel space at all. I hang out in my kennel so well that Im called the greeter dog at the boarding facility because my kennel is in the lobby. Im pretty special to be given this honor! Im also a beautiful girl with the cutest markings on my legs, so that helps too. Im not too fond of other dogs right now because they just make me nervous. That is the real reason that Im the lobby girl because my friends at the kennel are trying to help me acclimate to being around other dogs and to realize they arent going to hurt me. Im not aggressive to them at all, but sometimes I tell them Im scared with a little growl. Although other dogs arent my favorite, I love children and all people. I dont mind the cats in my lobby either. Im pretty much a lounger, but when Im not getting my beauty sleep, I prefer to be hanging out with the new people in my life. Im calm and quiet and that is what Im looking for in my new family. My ideal family is easy going, affectionate and patient. Also, my friends at Corridor Rescue think I'd be the best dog if I was an only dog. Ill take an extra few minutes to get to know and trust my new family, but please know that I want one so badly and I will be so loyal once I'm there. I dont need a big house or a big yard, just a little space, a leash for walks, a kennel and LOTS of love.
